CHINESE NAVY CHIEF VISITS WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND : Nov 5, 2008


A 10-member Chinese delegation headed by Admiral WU Shengli, Commander of PLA Navy, arrived at Mumbai on a day's visit to the Western Naval Command. The Chinese Naval Chief Admiral Shengli was received at the Headquarters by Vice Admiral JS Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. Admiral Shengli was given a 50-men Guard of Honour at INS Angre after which he held discussions with VAdm JS Bedi. He later visited some ships of the Indian Navy.

Japanese training Squadron visits Mumbai: August 25 2008

Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force Training Squadron (JTS) comprising Japanese ships Kashima, Asagiri and Umigiri arrived at Mumbai Port on four day visit on Saturday, 23 Aug 08. Rear Admiral Chikara Inoue, Commander Japan Training Squadron (JTS) accompanied by staff visited the Headquarters Western Naval Command today where he was received by Vice Admiral Jagjit Singh Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. The two senior officers had discussions on various issues related with the two navies.

Rear Admiral Chikara Inoue also visited Naval Dockyard Mumbai where he was shown the technical infrastructure of the Naval Dockyard. Later in the day, he also visited the Indian Museum Ship 'Vikrant'

India established diplomatic relations with Japan in 1952 and the two countries have maintained cordial relations ever since.

Saudi Naval ships at Mumbai :Mumbai, 28 Jul 08

2. The Commander Task Force along with the Commanding Officers of the two Royal Saudi Arabian Navy ships calling on Vice Admiral JS Bedi at the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command, Mumbai.


Two ships of the Royal Saudi Arabian Navy (RSAN) HMS Al Damman & HMS Yanbu arrived at Mumbai port today on a 4-day routine visit. This is the maiden visit to Indian port by warships of the Royal Saudi Arabian Navy. HMS Al Dammamis a Frigate with a crew of about 165 under the command of Capt Bandar Wasal while HMS yanbu is a logistics support ship under Capt Hasan Soufyani.


On arrival at Indira Dock the ships were received by Senior naval officers of the Western Naval Command. The Navy band was in attendance. Captain Dhafer G Alamir, Commander Task Force, along with the Commanding Officers of the two ships called on Vice Admiral JS Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, at the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command.


During the ships stay in harbour, there will be an exchange of visits to ships by officers and sailors of the two Navies, besides social interaction and friendly sports fixtures. These ships also have about 75 cadets of the Naval College embarked onboard. Ships are scheduled to depart Mumbai on 01 Aug.
