The Nation and Indian Navy celebrate Navy Day on fourth December which commemorates the audacious attack on Karachi harbor by Indian missile boats. Southern Naval Command will begin celebrations at day break when eminent citizens of Kochi led by Worshipful Mayor will join Vice Admiral KN Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command in paying homage at the War Memorial at Naval Base. Other luminaries who are expected to join the solemn ceremony include Shri Dominic Presentation, MLA, Shri Hibi Eden, MLA, Shri Paul Antony, Chairman Cochin Port Trust, Shri Sheik Pareeth, District Collector, Ernakulam and Vice Admiral (Retd) Raman Prem Suthan, former Vice Chief of Naval Staff. Brigadier SK Khanna, Chief Engineer Navy, TK Sathish Chandran, DIG, Commander Coast Guard District No 4, representatives of Veteran Sailors Forum, and Ex Servicemen Associations are also expected to participate. On completion, a new memorial "On Eternal Watch" depicting the vigilant watch on the bridge of a warship is also being commissioned by Kunnath S Raju, the senior most Sailor of Southern Naval Command. The memorial will invoke with pride and resolve, the contributions of all past mariners in the growth of Indian Navy.
