The Corps of EME is celebrating its 9th Reunion from 7th to 10th Jan 2010 at Hyderabad. Fondly referred to as ‘The Eagles’ the Corps has chosen the theme for the celebrations as ‘Where Eagles Dare’. In consonance with the theme, a number of adventure activities like mountaineering, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, offshore sailing were organized as a run up to the celebrations starting from 07th to 10th Jan 2010 at Secunderabad. The date coincides with the 100th birthday of Major Madan Singh (Retd), the oldest Eagle officer, who was felicitated by Lt Gen AKS Chandele, the DG EME and Senior Colonel Commandant of the Corps in a glittering ceremony at Delhi Cantt. Maj Madan Singh (Retd) was born on 07th Jan 1910 in Dautalla (Rawalpindi, Pakistan) and was commissioned in Jan 1945 in No 3 Mobile Wksp Coy (4 Corps) on Burma Front and retired on 07th Jan 1965 after 20 years of service.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Chandele exhorted his fellow Eagles to attain the highest levels of professionalism, unequivocal moral uprightness and prepare themselves for the emerging technological challenges to emerge as total solution providers for the engineering support needs of the Indian Army.
