INS Shivalik, built by Mazagon Dock Limited, Mumbai was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 29th April 2010 at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. Hon'ble Raksha Mantri, Shri A. K. Antony was the Chief Guest. INS Shivalik which incorporates unique stealth features as well as state-of-the-art weaponry and communication equipment will be the Navy's most advanced warship to date.
INS Shivalik is the first stealth frigate built under Project-17. It will be followed by 'Satpura' and 'Sahyadri' which are currently being fitted out at MDL.
