FIRST COMMANDANT OF NAVAL ACADEMY ASSUMES CHARGE : Dec 16, 2008

Rear Admiral MP Muralidharan has assumed charge as the first Commandant of the Naval Academy at Ezhimala. Admiral Muralidharan an alumnus of the National Defence Academy was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1975. A specialist in Navigation and Direction, he has held a mix of operational and staff appointments.

Amongst the operational appointments held are commands of Indian Naval Ships Chatak, Sharda and Ranvijay, Fleet Operations Officer of Western Fleet and Principal Director of Naval Operations at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi. Rear Admiral MP Muralidharan has also served as the Naval Attache at the Embassy of India at Moscow. The Flag Officer is a recipient of Nao Sena Medal.

On promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral, he was appointed as Flag Officer Sea Training at Kochi and thereafter as Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, Mumbai till 23 Jan 08. He was appointed as Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area on 24 Jan 08.
